global associates is delivering the largest energy-reduction project across the gym sector for the largest gym operator in the UK.
The leading gym and fitness operator enlisted global associates based on its track record of innovation in energy reduction and set a gas and electricity reduction target of 15% across its entire estate.
Utilising the latest BMS, IoT, AI smart meters, Cloud technology and the global spaces platform, global associates was able to reduce energy usage and operating costs by an impressive 34%, with installation costs 22% lower than they would have been if a traditional BMS approach had been taken.
The decision to leverage multiple vendors/technology for devices, alongside multiple AI- cameras, enabled a broader range of data collection and a more robust system overall as it is not reliant on a single vendor's technology or limitations. Operational efficiency was solidified through the proactive use of alarms and automation delivered by a single consolidated interface, plus consumer insights delivered by data and AI have driven occupant usage understanding and have resulted in a change in how the business operates moving forwards.
In providing a single, unified graphical representation of the entire estate along with site drill down and real time reporting, global associates has granted the gym operator unprecedented visibility and control, allowing for more informed decision-making and efficient management of sites. A total CO2e reduction of 2,675 CO2t per annum has been achieved, equivalent to over 1,189 UK domestic homes annual emissions.
The gym group’s Head of Energy was delighted with the significant difference global associates’ systems made to the running of their gyms. He commented: “We are committed to reducing our energy usage and carbon footprint; as the UK’s largest gym operator we want to set the standard for ESG across our sector. Working with global we have superseded our targets whilst delivering within budget. The innovation of the technology solution allows us to build upon our smart building investment over time, delivering an increased customer experience. We have been able to integrate multiple IT systems with the minimal of effort and drive increased business efficiency, supporting first time fix and pre-emptive maintenance.”
