Port of Dover project helps Global Associates to more BCIA Awards glory

News & Events

Global Associates is celebrating after picking up another BCIA Award, this time in the Technical Innovation of the Year – Projects category.

Held at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham on 1st May 2025, the BCIA Awards is the flagship event for the building controls industry, celebrating the very best the sector has to offer.

The Kent-based BEMS solutions provider submitted its impressive Port of Dover project for nomination and overcame some tough competition to land its latest award. The brief was to purpose-design and implement a control strategy to lower the business risk of managing back-up power supplies and reduce the overall carbon footprint in operating the UK's busiest passenger port. The carbon emissions target was 10%, and the project delivered 23% overall reduction in carbon from operating activities. The project consisted of integrating the building management system (BMS), IoT LoRaWAN sensors and cloud-based reporting and notification technology to drive efficient refuelling and maintenance visits to key locations across the port.

Paul Wetherfield, CEO at Global Associates, commented: “It is fantastic for us to once again be recognised as leaders in this thriving and competitive industry. We are incredibly proud of our work at the Port of Dover and I would like to thank the Global team once again for their professionalism and dedication in providing first class solutions to all of our clients.”
